JAL and NEC’s AI Trial Transforms Boarding Gate Efficiency

Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL) and NEC Corporation (NEC) recently collaborated on a groundbreaking trial of the “NEC Baggage Counting Solution,” leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize carry-on baggage analysis at boarding gates. This innovative solution, a global first of its kind, aims to address flight delays associated with excessive cabin baggage, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and passenger satisfaction.

The initiative comes in response to the challenges posed by overcrowded aisles and delayed boarding processes resulting from passengers struggling to stow their carry-on items.
