DHL Express Romania has recently unveiled its state-of-the-art operational center at VGP Park Bucharest North, Ștefăneștii de Jos, marking a significant milestone in the company’s investment strategy within the Romanian market. This facility, valued at over EUR 5 million, stands as DHL’s premier carbon-neutral logistics hub in the country.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities such as Mike Parra, CEO of DHL Express Europe, and Her Excellency Angela Ganninger, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Romania, among others. This event underscored the strategic importance of the center in enhancing DHL’s operational capabilities in Romania.
Specializing in processing inbound parcels destined for Bucharest from global origins, the new logistics center is poised to revolutionize the sorting and processing efficiency for international shipments. With a sprawling area encompassing 4,130 sqm, the site dedicates 3,604 sqm to warehouse functions and reserves 526 sqm for office spaces, along with 23 parking slots.
Equipped with a cutting-edge sorting capacity that can handle up to 2,800 items per hour, the center services Bucharest and its environs through a network of 40 delivery routes. Noteworthy is the center’s commitment to sustainability, with half of its 40-vehicle fleet being electric, aligning with DHL’s eco-conscious expansion plans nationwide.
Bogdan Enache, the General Manager of DHL Express Romania, emphasized the center’s pivotal role in meeting the evolving demands of local businesses, facilitating their international growth aspirations. This sentiment was echoed by Mike Parra, highlighting Romania’s growth potential in the global trade landscape.
Currently boasting a workforce of over 500 employees, a fleet of more than 200 vehicles, and a network spanning 40 strategic locations across Romania’s major cities, DHL Express stands as a key player in the country’s courier service sector.
