Virgin Australia has recently announced new baggage rules as part of a broader crackdown on carry-on luggage. The definition of ‘small’ for the personal item is specified as maximum dimensions of L45cm x W33cm x H20cm. While the weight limit has been increased by 1kg compared to the previous allowance, passengers will no longer have the flexibility to split the weight across two bags or bring a standard piece along with a suit bag totaling 7kg.
These modifications will particularly impact business travelers who were previously permitted to carry an additional personal item. However, certain categories of passengers, including those in Business Class and various Velocity membership tiers, will still be allowed up to two carry-on bags weighing a total of 14kg, with one piece not exceeding 8kg.
