TransPak, a global leader in logistics, packaging, and crating services, recently announced the acquisition of Reid Packaging, a longstanding provider of custom packaging solutions based in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. The acquisition, which brings together two family-owned companies with a shared commitment to quality craftsmanship and customer service, is a strategic move to expand TransPak’s presence on the East Coast.
Reid Packaging, established in 1982, has built a strong reputation as a top industrial packager in the Atlanta region, specializing in corrugated, foam, and custom-engineered crating solutions, particularly for the military and aerospace sectors. Under the leadership of Ward Phillips, Reid Packaging has grown to become one of the largest packaging facilities in the area, boasting a 60,000-square-foot site.
With the acquisition, TransPak aims to enhance its local manufacturing capabilities in the Southeast while tapping into Reid Packaging’s expertise in specialized and heavy-duty custom crates. The move strategically positions TransPak in the Atlanta market, a crucial logistics hub for industries like renewable energy and semiconductors.
Tomas Molet, Executive Vice President of East and Midwest Operations at TransPak, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting Reid Packaging’s prime location in Peachtree Corners as a gateway to serving clients across the Southeast and beyond, including direct routes to the Carolinas. The acquisition also bolsters TransPak’s ability to cater to the specific needs of clients in sectors such as semiconductor and renewable energy.
Aside from the advantageous location, the acquisition brings new manufacturing capabilities to TransPak’s East Coast operations. Reid Packaging’s facility now stands as the largest among TransPak’s regional sites, offering expanded services like heavy-duty and triple-wall corrugated packaging. These capabilities position TransPak to meet the increasing demand for custom-designed packaging solutions for delicate and high-value equipment.
A key focus of the acquisition was ensuring a smooth transition for Reid Packaging’s employees. Molet emphasized the commitment to retain all employees and introduce new benefits, underscoring the importance of making the transition a positive experience for everyone involved. Amanda Gautney, a seasoned member of TransPak’s leadership team, has been appointed as the Operations Manager for the Peachtree Corners facility.
Looking ahead, TransPak plans to continue operating under the Reid Packaging name in the short term, gradually transitioning the facility to full integration under the TransPak brand. This transition reflects the shared values and dedication to quality upheld by both companies.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, TransPak brings over 70 years of experience in providing innovative and cost-effective design, crating, packaging, and global logistics solutions. As a customer-centric, women- and family-owned enterprise, TransPak combines the agility of a small business with the reliability of a global leader in the industry.
